KEY FEATURES

  • XTR Alloy 43 is for arc welding aluminums alloyed with copper, silicon, and magnesium.
  • Also excellent for joining dissimilar grades of aluminum.
  • A 5% Silicon aluminum arc welding electrode with exclusive self-lifting slag.
  • The only aluminum electrode manufactured in "Low Temperature" 5/64 diameter
  • Long shelf-life extruded flux coating outlasts conventional products in moisture resistance
  • The arc is stable and operates at low temperatures with a minimum of spatter and fuming
  • Can be used for torch welding aluminum alloys

WELDING TECHNIQUES

Clean weld area, Bevel sections greater than 1/4", Preheating to 500 °F is recommended on sections greater than 1/8", DC - reverse polarity, hold electrode in a vertical position, remove flux between passes, Clean with hot water; add 8-10% sulfuric acid to water if additional cleaning is required. Start by using the upper portion of the amperage range. Feed the Electrode quickly and move fast maintaining a very close arc gap.
